| Learn effective ways to teach beginning reading, language arts, history,
science, math, and the fine arts at an inclusive homeschool seminar on
Saturday, January 11 from 9:30 AM to 3:30 PM at The Great Northwest
Library, 9050 Wellwood, San Antonio.
Penny Gardner, author of Charlotte Mason Study Guide and the Nine-Note
Recorder Books, will share ideas from Charlotte Mason (1842-1923) on how
to teach children, elementary through high school, at home. Other
workshops include italic handwriting, nature journaling, and a music
workshop where you learn to play the recorder and teach it to your
children. (Bring your own recorder or purchase a top quality one for
only $10 at the seminar. Music will be provided.)
This seminar is appropriate to both new and experienced home educators
and to those new to Charlotte Mason's philosophy or somewhat
knowledgeable. There is no curriculum to purchase; your local library is
a great resource. These ideas may be adapted to fit your teaching style
and any curriculum you may already own.
To learn more about this approach that is gaining popularity in the
homeschool movement, visit www.pennygardner.com. You will find reviews
and the agenda for the seminar, as well as a registration form at the
website. Cost is $30 person or $40 couple with a special rate for four
or more registrants. Pre-registration, due December 31, guarantees a
seat and you will get a $10 off coupon good for a free book at the seminar.
