The National Women’s Hall of Fame is pleased to
announce its 21st Annual Poster, Essay, and Web Page Contest. The contest is
open to students in the United States, and is based on the theme for National
Women’s History Month 2002 – "Women Sustaining the American Spirit".
"Now more than ever, it’s important to recognize and celebrate the great women
who have helped shape the United States with their strength and spirit. Being
reminded of the obstacles our country has overcome in its history will serve to
unify all Americans as we face new challenges and a new chapter in our country’s
evolution," said Marilyn P. Bero, President of the Hall’s Board of Directors.
The Poster Contest is open to students in grades 7 through 12.
Entrants are asked to apply the 2002 contest theme to an inductee of the
National Women’s Hall of Fame.
The Essay Contest is open to students in intermediate, middle, and
senior high school (grades 4-12). Essays are judged within each of these grade
groups; the length requirements vary for each level.
The Web Page Contest is open to students in grades 7 through 12.
Entrants are asked to create a design that demonstrates how a Hall inductee has
sustained the American spirit.
All entries must be received or postmarked by March 31, 2002.
Entries will be judged by members of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International for
key women educators. Winners will be announced in May 2002. The top three
entrants in the web page category and each essay and poster category will
receive a Certificate of Achievement and cash prizes. Contest coordinators are
educators Delia Olufsen and Joyce Lotterhos.
