Texas Folklife Resources Apprenticeship

10/31/2004    Sunday
Apprentices must already have some skill in the folk art form they propose to study. Apprentices must also already know the master artist with whom they desire to study. Together, apprentice and master artist should present a plan for a 6-9 month intensive period of study. Preference is given to projects dedicated to the passing on of a folk art rooted in the atists' communities. Preference is also given to projects perpetuating folk arts whose existence is especially endangered. The program does not fund recreations of historic artifacts or reenactments of past lifestyles. Nor does the program fund contemporary or individual studio projects. All art forms must be a part of a community of family.
