Presentation by Dr. Stephen Ackert, Director of Music at the National Gallery of Art and the Texas Children’s Choir
Dr. Stephen Ackert, Director of Music at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., joined by the Texas Children’s Choir, will present the fourth annual Outreach Lecture in Art and Music at the San Antonio Museum of Art. This year's program will focus on art and organ and choral music from the Romantic Period. Program selections include “How lovely is thy dwelling place” from German Requiem by Johannes Brahms, Toccata and Fugue in D Minor by J.S. Bach, and “Consolation no. 3” by Franz List.
Dr. Ackert, known for his work in baroque and early organ and harpsichord music, has given concerts throughout the United States and Europe. Dr. Ackert comes to San Antonio each year to work with the Texas Children's Choir, a group known locally, statewide, nationally, and internationally. Part of the costs of his presentation at SAMA are covered by the Outreach program of the National Gallery of Art. |
