David Robb has re-imagined Shakespeare’s classic play to reflect upon our changing times. Evocative and powerful, Robb’s Lear takes place in the not-too-distant future, where society has collapsed under the weight of modern industrialism and personal selfishness. King Lear struggles to preserve the peace of his kingdom, though a lifetime of battle has left him with a family he does not know or understand. A great first-time Shakespeare experience for those new to the Bard, and a bold new look for those familiar with the play.
